  Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are a group of diseases that have been disabling, disfiguring and blinding their victims for centuries. NTDs disable on a large scale; more than 1.4 billion people throughout the world suffer from one or more of these diseases which contribute to significant economic losses for middle and low income countries from cognitive and physical impairment, decreased school attendance, lowered productivity and limited wage earning potential. Low cost and simple solutions are available to combat NTDs.
